You Don't Need Anymore Holes in the Boat

How to regain control in 3 steps.

Losing control looks like this...

  • Zombie mode
  • Surviving
  • Overwhelm & exhaustion
  • Coming at you from all angles
  • Health & well-being becoming secondary/non-existent (now add guilt to the list)
  • No rest bite, or let up
  • Detached, not present, unhappy
  • You see fires everywhere, lots around your feet

There is no easy way to take back control in this situation.

But there are 3 simple (but not easy) steps which begin the process...

👉 Awareness & acceptance

This can't continue, I'm running on fumes, I don't want to continue like this and I want to change. I've contributed to lots of this, but now I'm ready for better.

👉 Back to basics
Elite sport, military, business. When the 💩 is hitting the fan all go back to basics. Try this: 3 meals a day. Moving your carcass. Put your distractor 📱down. Challenge invasive thoughts ("is this actually true?"). Tell 1 person. Set yourself up for 'better' sleep (long exhale breathing + body scanning + counting back from 10 to 0 + repeat).

👉 Stop dumping more on
Look at every area of your life causing stress, write the top 3-5 stressors in each catagory on a bit of paper. What can you remove OR, at least stop contributing to. You don't need anymore holes in the boat 🚣.

Start thinking small to regain control. Keep bailing out the boat, but plug some holes so you can actually move forwards.
