When Life Forces You Back to Basics.
Sometimes the universe doesn't throw curve balls, it throws cannon balls.
When things don't go to plan, or the plan get obliterated by something much bigger than the plan!
When the 💩hits the fan, the fan hits another fan and then all the left overs get thrown off a big bridge.
You go back to basics.
Same in sport.
Same in the military.
Back to basics, do them well and build as best you can around the new situation.
Last week was a back to basics week for me.
These are times when a win consists of:
🏆Getting more than a couple hours sleep
🏆Eating some actual nutrients not crap
🏆Moving your body, a bit
🏆Telling someone what's happening for you
🏆Self compassion rules supreme. Be where your feet are.
🏆Avoiding old/existing numbing (comforting) habits is a huge win
Re-define success in this moment.
We've probably all been there, or you will be there at some time in your life.
This time doesn't last. The sole goal is survival and perhaps not going backwards.
3 steps to claw yourself back:
1. Self-compassion, "I am where I am today. I won't always be here, but right now, I am."
2. Tiny positive action steps. A walk, a decent meal, a laugh or smile, an earlier night.
3. Talk. Someone, anyone, just be vulnerable and open up.
You'll be amazed at how you can build yourself back up.
If you're in a proper pickle. Like a real full on Branston (UK folks only will get that one)...
Go back to basics and be where your feet are today.
